With a supported on-premises Switchvox appliance, a streaming audio player can feed a live Easy On Hold stream into the system’s external music-on-hold source. Switchvox Cloud uses uploaded audio files instead. In either setup, your team can create and manage its audio content through the Easy On Hold Creative Content Center.

How Live Streaming Works on Switchvox On-Premises

Build Your Audio Program
Select your music and messages in the Easy On Hold Creative Content Center. Schedule announcements by date so the live program stays useful and timely.
Connect the Audio Source
The Easy On Hold player receives the internet stream and outputs audio to a compatible audio-to-USB adapter plugged into the Switchvox appliance. This is an external audio connection, not a stream URL entered in the Switchvox admin screen.
Assign Music on Hold
In Switchvox, select the external source as the appropriate music-on-hold group and check the system and queue assignments. Sangoma’s setup instructions require a software restart to apply the group change; schedule it when active calls can be interrupted.
Update Content in the Portal
Once the connection is configured, change the live music and messages in the Easy On Hold portal without uploading a replacement file to Switchvox for each update.
External audio support depends on the Switchvox deployment and appliance. Confirm hardware compatibility with your administrator before ordering equipment.
Switchvox Cloud: Custom Audio Files

For Switchvox Cloud, Easy On Hold prepares the music and messages as an audio file. Your Switchvox administrator uploads the file in Tools > Music On Hold, adds it to a group, and assigns that group to the desired caller experience. A later content change means uploading a revised file. Follow Sangoma’s instructions for applying music-on-hold changes, including the software restart that can drop active calls.

A supported on-premises Switchvox appliance can use an external audio source through a compatible USB audio adapter. An Easy On Hold streaming player receives the internet stream and feeds audio into that external source. The stream URL is not entered directly in Switchvox Music On Hold.
Switchvox Cloud uses uploaded music-on-hold files. Easy On Hold can provide custom audio in a supported MP3 or Ogg format for your administrator to upload, group, and assign to a queue or system music on hold. New audio requires a new upload.
Switchvox lets an administrator assign a music-on-hold group to a call queue. The number and routing of distinct external audio sources depend on the deployment and configuration. Review the desired queue experience with your Switchvox administrator.
Sangoma documents a software restart when applying music-on-hold file or group changes, including the external source setup. A restart drops active calls, so plan configuration changes for a maintenance window. Once the external source is configured, updates to the Easy On Hold live program do not require another Switchvox file upload.
