Streaming Music On Hold and Messages for Nextiva
Achieve higher caller satisfaction ratings with unique custom music on hold content. Easy On Hold® Streaming Queue Music™ is a cloud service that sends a continuous stream of scheduled and randomized music and messages to your Nextiva platform, so callers stop hearing the same few seconds of audio restart on every hold.
Easy On Hold® created live streaming music on hold in 2013 to replace default hold music with an easily managed audio content stream. In 2020 a cloud-based appliance, Streaming Queue Music™ (SQM), was launched to transcode audio streams into the formats used by different platforms, including Nextiva, which runs on Broadsoft® BroadWorks.

How to Set Up Streaming Hold Music on Nextiva
The Easy On Hold® SIP audio stream uses an Identity/Device Profile as an “endpoint” for content from SQM. The Music On Hold settings in the Broadsoft® interface point held calls to that endpoint, which works like a “conference room” where callers wait and hear the audio stream. Easy On Hold® assigns a unique Line/Port name for each stream provided, and you use that name to configure the profile.
Add an Identity/Device Profile
From Group Level View, select Resources, then Identity/Device Profiles, then Add. Enter a name with no spaces, such as MOH or Music_On_Hold, and set the Identity/Device Profile Type to Generic SIP Music On Hold. Change Transport to UDP, add a description, and click OK.
Set up the Line/Port for MOH
Go to Services, then Music/Video on Hold, select Group, and edit the group settings. Change System Defined Music/Video to External Source, choose the Identity/Device Profile you created, and enter the Line/Port supplied by Easy On Hold® (in the form eohmoh_01_123456789012). The SIP Server Domain Name for Nextiva is always prod.voipdnsservers.com, and the preferred audio codec is G.711. Leave music enabled for Call Hold, Call Park, and Busy Camp On, then click Apply and OK.
Tell Easy On Hold® the configuration is complete
Notify the Easy On Hold® support team at +1 888-798-4653 ext. 236 or [email protected]. To avoid blacklisting, no attempt is made to register the endpoint until Easy On Hold® has confirmation that music on hold has been configured.
Many Nextiva users do not have access to the settings above. You can instead inform Nextiva Support that your Easy On Hold® support engineer is approved as a user on your account, and the engineer will work directly with Nextiva to set up the configuration.
Registration test, then manage your content
Easy On Hold® reports the successful registration and tests a live connection. No other configuration or ongoing maintenance is required, and the configuration does not change. From there, end users control content from a personal management portal at easyonholdcloud.com.
Streaming Queue Music™ establishes a unique connection to each Identity/Device Line/Port where music on hold is needed. Content can be shared across multiple devices or assigned uniquely to individual endpoints, and hundreds of concurrently held calls are supported for each stream instance.

How the Easy On Hold® stream connects to Nextiva, and who configures what.
Yes. Nextiva is built on Broadsoft® BroadWorks, and Easy On Hold® streams to it with Streaming Queue Music™ (SQM). The stream is delivered to an Identity/Device Profile that acts as an endpoint, and the Music On Hold settings point held calls to that endpoint, where callers hear the live stream while they wait.
No. Because the audio is a live stream, there is no file to upload, no time limit, and no file size limit. Users no longer handle music or message audio files, which saves time and avoids the irritation of a stored file that restarts from the beginning for every caller.
Two things. First, add an Identity/Device Profile at Group level under Resources, using the profile type Generic SIP Music On Hold with Transport set to UDP. Second, go to Services, then Music/Video on Hold, edit the Group settings, change System Defined Music/Video to External Source, and enter the Line/Port supplied by Easy On Hold® with SIP Server Domain Name prod.voipdnsservers.com and preferred audio codec G.711.
