Easy On Hold® for SimpleVoIP
Upgrade to streaming music and messages: a live stream that never repeats and never goes out of date.
Streaming Music On Hold and Messages for SimpleVoIP
There’s a cure for boring default music on hold: one or more live streaming hold queues on your SimpleVoIP platform. Easy On Hold® created the first streaming music on hold platform in 2013, a service that adds value to marketers, technicians, and callers alike. Streaming MOH is just another great advancement that keeps you at the forefront.
SimpleVoIP SmartPBX makes it easy to add and change hold music and messages. Used as a live stream instead of a looping upload, that same control becomes an excellent marketing tool for current promotions and special events, and it keeps customers at ease while they wait on hold.
- Replace the looping SmartPBX file with a live stream that never restarts from the beginning
- No 5 MB upload cap and no file size limits, because it is a live http/https MP3 stream
- Promotions and special events stay current from the Easy On Hold® portal
- Licensed music and professionally managed messages, not a short stored loop
Easy On Hold® sends a live http or https MP3 stream into SimpleVoIP, so callers hear current music and messages without file uploads.
How to Set Up Streaming Hold Music on SimpleVoIP
SmartPBX documents uploading hold music as .mp3 or .wav files under 5 MB. Streaming is the better path: paste a live Easy On Hold® MP3 URL instead of cataloging another looping file.
Request your Easy On Hold® stream URL
Ask Easy On Hold® for a custom http or https MP3 stream. Content is managed from your portal, with changes heard immediately or scheduled with start and stop dates.
Open Hold Music in SmartPBX
From the dashboard, click Hold Music. Or select Global Apps, then the Music on Hold tab, then Parent Account Media. That is where site-wide hold audio is assigned.
Use the http/https MP3 URL, not a file upload
This integration supports an http or https MP3 URL for music on hold using the FreeSWITCH mod_shout or mod_shouts streaming module. Provide the Easy On Hold® URL instead of choosing upload new. See the FreeSWITCH integration for how those modules play a live stream. If the portal only offers file upload, ask SimpleVoIP to set the stream URL.
Assign to the location or users, then save
Select the stream for the location and save. For a specific user, open User Features, enable Music-On-Hold, and assign that stream—or disable it so the user returns to location media. After that, manage music and messages in the Easy On Hold® portal. You do not keep uploading replacement files.
MSPs, IT resellers, and telephony providers can offer SimpleVoIP streaming music on hold to their clients and earn recurring revenue through the Easy On Hold® partner program.

SimpleVoIP Streaming Hold Music FAQs
Why a live stream is preferred to uploading music-on-hold files on SimpleVoIP.
A live stream replaces a stored MP3 or WAV that restarts from the beginning for every caller. Easy On Hold® sends a continuously updated mix of licensed music and professionally managed messages, so callers hear more variety and your team does not have to export, upload, and swap files whenever a promotion changes.
No. SmartPBX documents uploading .mp3 or .wav files under 5 MB, which is the looping-file method. SimpleVoIP also supports an http or https MP3 URL for music on hold. Because the audio is a live stream, there is no file to upload, no 5 MB cap, and no file size limit.
This integration supports an http or https MP3 URL for music on hold using the FreeSWITCH mod_shout or mod_shouts streaming module. Easy On Hold® provides the stream URL. SimpleVoIP plays that live feed while callers wait, instead of a file stored in Parent Account Media.
Mod_shout and mod_shouts are FreeSWITCH modules that play http or https MP3 stream audio as music on hold. They are the accepted method for replacing default hold music with a live internet stream. See the Easy On Hold® FreeSWITCH integration for how those modules are used.
Each message is programmed in the live stream and can be scheduled with custom start and stop dates. Promotions, hours, and special-event announcements play only when they should, so a stale uploaded file does not keep looping after a campaign ends. Content is managed from the Easy On Hold® portal.
Yes. SmartPBX can set hold music for the location from the dashboard Hold Music control or from Global Apps, Music on Hold, Parent Account Media. Per-user Music-On-Hold can be enabled so a user plays unique audio, or disabled so that user returns to the location media. Multiple Easy On Hold® streams can be provisioned when departments need different programming.
Yes. Easy On Hold® provides licensed music and professionally managed messages for business use on the stream. Hosting licensed music on the stream helps businesses avoid the liability that comes with playing consumer tracks from an uploaded file.
Once the http or https MP3 URL is assigned, you do not keep uploading replacement files in SmartPBX. End users control music and messages from the Easy On Hold® portal. Changes are heard immediately on the stream, or they can be scheduled with custom start and stop dates.
